TAL Keycoat Latex Adhesion Primer (5 Litre) is a high-performance, latex-based bonding agent specifically formulated to improve adhesion between new and existing cementitious materials. This professional-grade primer is essential for ensuring a strong and lasting bond when applying new screeds, plasters, or tile adhesives onto smooth, dense, or low-porosity substrates such as power-floated concrete, terrazzo, or existing tiled surfaces.

The unique synthetic latex formulation of TAL Keycoat creates a flexible and durable interface layer that compensates for substrate movement and minimizes cracking, debonding, and surface failure. When mixed with Portland cement, it forms a slurry that penetrates the substrate, enhancing both mechanical and chemical bonding. Its excellent water resistance makes it ideal for high-moisture environments, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and exterior walls.

TAL Keycoat is also an effective admixture for mortars and adhesives, improving workability, cohesion, and adhesion strength while reducing shrinkage and porosity. Suitable for both interior and exterior applications, it provides long-term performance and durability in residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Features & Benefits

  • Superior Bonding Strength: Creates a high-adhesion layer for screeds, plasters, and tile adhesives.

  • Improved Flexibility: Reduces cracking and debonding caused by movement or temperature variation.

  • Moisture & Chemical Resistance: Provides protection against water ingress and damp conditions.

  • Multipurpose Use: Functions as a primer, slurry bonding coat, or cement admixture.

  • Durable Finish: Ensures long-lasting surface performance and stability.

  • Easy to Apply: Ready-to-use liquid suitable for brush, roller, or spray application.

Applications

  • As a bonding agent between old and new concrete, screed, or plaster layers.

  • As a primer on smooth or non-porous surfaces like power-floated concrete, terrazzo, or existing tiles.

  • As an admixture in cementitious mortars, screeds, and adhesives for enhanced strength and flexibility.

  • Suitable for wet and dry areas, including bathrooms, showers, kitchens, and exteriors.

Application Instructions

  1. Surface Preparation:
Ensure the surface is clean, sound, and free from dust, grease, oil, and loose particles.

  2. Mixing:
Mix TAL Keycoat with ordinary Portland cement at a 1:2 ratio (by volume) to form a smooth, lump-free slurry.

  3. Application:
Apply the slurry coat evenly using a brush or roller. While the coat is still tacky, apply the screed, plaster, or tile adhesive.

  4. Curing:
Allow sufficient curing time before applying subsequent finishes. Maintain adequate ventilation during use.
